This post is brought to you by NABISCO. Have you ever attended a Holiday Cookie Exchange? It’s a great excuse for a Holiday get together with family and friends, and everyone gets to leave with some delicious desserts! I found THE cutest recipe on NABISCO’s Pinterest Holiday Cookie Swap Board for some delicious Melting Snowman Cookie Balls.  They combine cream cheese and OREO cookies and I knew these cookie balls would be a hit at a Holiday Cookie Exchange! I set to work to see how easy they were to create… GREAT NEWS! They are NOT hard. Even for a non-baker like myself.

CHRISTMAS COOKIE RECIPE

Please avert your eyes from the gel coloring – as you can tell, I accidentally bought the wrong ‘icing” – just keeping it real!

Holiday Cookie Exchange Tips

Here are a few simple tips to hosting a Holiday Cookie Exchange:

  • Send out your invite about 3 weeks in advance. The Holidays are a busy time, so make sure to give your guests enough notice to clear their calendar! Make sure to give clear instructions on what is expected – bake and bring x amount of cookies to share, and don’t forget to bring the recipe and cute packaging supplies!
  • Keep the number of invitees manageable. The point of a cookie swap is for attendees to bake enough cookies that each person leaves with a cookie from each person, plus some extra for sampling AT the party! If you invite 75 people, that’s a LOT of cookies to make.
  • Decide on the cookies to bake. Try to plan with your attendees to avoid cookie duplication! A private Facebook group set-up prior to the party could help with this!
  • Set up a Cookie Table. Set up a table where everyone can place their cookies when they arrive. Add blank tent cards that people can fill in with their cookie info and their name for identification purposes.
  • Set up a Wrapping Table.  Set up a boxing station where all the cookies can be packaged up! You can provide the packaging, or ask your attendees to bring some along. White boxes, sweets bags, plates with doilies, ribbon, and gift tags are a few fun ways to package these sweets. Attendees can then gift the cookies, or just bring them home in style.
  • Party Atmosphere. Don’t forget to set the party mood with a little festive music, hot cocoa, and other Holiday snacks.
