Today I am sharing a family recipe that we call Jublotte, also known as Tomato and Macaroni Soup. This soup is one that my Memere made for many years. My grandparents did not have a lot of money and had 10 children in 12 years, resulting in many mouths to feed.Â
Tomato and Macaroni Soup is simple, affordable to make and is easy to make lots of it all at once! Ideal for a busy mom. All three of my kids ask for this soup at least once a week. It is delicious with crackers or a slice of buttered bread and perfect for a cold winter night.
TOMATO & MACARONI SOUP RECIPE
Feeds a Family of Five
INGREDIENTS
32 oz tomato juice
32 oz water
2 Cups Macaroni
Three Hot Dogs (optional)
1/2 lb. Ground Beef
Onion salt (or regular salt) and pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS
Combine tomato juice and water into a medium sauce pan. Add broken up ground beef and bring to a boil over high heat. Add in macaroni, hot dogs and seasoning to taste and reduce to medium heat. Cook on medium until macaroni is tender.
Of course you can always add a few ingredients to give it more flavor such as onions, crushed tomatoes or carrots. I personally prefer the simplicity of the original soup – probably because I was raised on it!
Hope you enjoy! It really is a family favorite.

Hey I was wondering the actual size of can for tomato sauce…the 15oz?
Thanks
I’ll have to make a note next time I buy a smaller can. Recently I’ve been buying the family size Campbell’s Tomato Juice and then add one can of water.
Do you brown the Hamburger meat before adding it to the pot?
You can, but I normally just put it in at the same time as the tomato juice, by the time it boils and the macaroni cooks, it is cooked thoroughly.
What size can of tomato juice are you talking about? 2qt or 32 oz?
It’s either 32 or 46 oz!
