Lately I’ve been having a love affair with gold. I love it in home decor, clothing, accessories.
Since I had leftover microsuede from my Neon Stripe Microsuede Clutch, I decided to make a Tote Bag for myself. I used a 1/2 yard of linen, an old belt and a small amount of microsuede to create this adorable little bag:
I love it. It makes me happy just looking at it!
This was a spur of the minute project so I didn’t photograph the steps, but luckily there are tons of tutorials out there for you.
The main concept of the bag was made similar to the Burlap and Metallic Tote at Craftaholics Anonymous, but I added a reinforced bottom like Growing Home’s Simple Tote Bag.
I also had an old braided belt that I cut and used as handles, the brown was a perfect match, so I know it was meant to be!
To create the polka dots, I cut out a stencil using my Silhouette and chipboard.
Make sure to put a piece of paper inside your tote so the paint doesn’t bleed through to the other side and then use a dabber foam brush to stencil the dots.
What do you think? Are you a fan of the gold trend?
