I love, love, love bubble umbrellas. Especially CLEAR bubble umbrellas. I just think they’re so darn whimsical. I found one on Amazon for a good price, so I went ahead and ordered it. When it arrived I realized I could make this even MORE cute by adding a fun rain-related quote. I picked a few of my fav’s and then posted them on the seven thirty three Facebook page so you all could pick the final one. Read on to see which quote I used for my DIY Decorated Umbrella and to get the free file so you can make your own!

Download the “Rain is just confetti from the sky” png file by clicking on the link in the supplies list. Save it to your desktop. Open Cricut Design Space and upload the image. Choose Moderately Complex Image and click continue. Click continue past the remove background screen and insert the image into your design mat.
Measure the umbrella to determine the size of your image. Mine was 9″ wide by 5.34″ high. Once you have the image sized correctly, send it to your Cricut Explore.
Make sure the dial is set to vinyl, load your mat and cut the design.
Carefully weed out the extra vinyl with a weeding tool. Using transfer tape, cover the entire design. Remove the backing from the vinyl and lay it onto your umbrella. With a credit card or scraper, carefully adhere the vinyl to the umbrella. I placed one hand inside the umbrella behind the vinyl to keep the umbrella in place as I got the vinyl to stick.
Now head on out and play in the rain!
What do you think? Cute right? This little beauty has a home in my car so that next time I get stuck in the rain, I’ll have a fashion forward accessory to make the day a little brighter!
Ahhh, makes me recall the bumblebee umbrella my daughter had with pop up wings. She loved that thing. Now, at 11, I’m happy when I can get her to leave the house with a coat when it’s raining. Sigh.
They grow way too fast, right? My youngest is 7 and I have no idea how it happened!
I love it! Thank you for sharing!
I LOVE this! How did it hold up in the rain? Does the vinyl stay on? I’m worried it will crease when I fold the umbrella up!
So unfortunately my son LOST it about a month after I made it. 🙁 It was holding up well though. I recommend using permanent, outdoor vinyl and you should be good!
Thanks for sharing hun . Tried normal vinyl but it came off and i didnt know what vinyl to use so pleased to find someone that shared how they do it . My thoughts are with you about your son i also lost my son so know how had it is for you take care x
What type of transfer tape do you use? I used low tack & had adhesive all around my design! Can you help? Thanks!
I use Cricut’s transfer tape and have never had any issue with residue.
I have tried to create an umbrealla with polka dots. Unfortunately, the 651 vinyl comes off. Do you know if there is an adhesive spray I could use to make the vinyl stick better on the clear umbrella ? Thank you for your feedback !!!
Oh no! I used an outdoor permanent vinyl and didn’t have that issue… I wonder if you could try a waterproof Mod Podge?
Hi . Do you use the transfer paper on the umbrella. For some reason it won’t stick. I use outdoor vinyl but it will not stick, please tell me what I’m doing wrong
I did. It was VERY slow going. And I folded the transfer paper back so that it didn’t unfold and stick to the umbrella again. Good luck! Patience!
