I was washing out a spaghetti jar the other day and realized I absolutely love the shape of the jar, along with the stamp on the neck of it that reads “1865”. I decided that I had to do something with it, rather than just throwing it in the recycling bin. After a little thought I decided to do a painted Christmas Tree Jar Candle Holder. Super easy to make and looks fabulous, don’t you think?

SUPPLIES:
Jar
Paint – Acrylic or Spray Paint
Paint Brush
Vinyl
Cricut Explore (optional)
Twine
Scissors
Candle
Beans
DIRECTIONS:
Remove the label and clean a jar – I used a Bertolli Spaghetti Sauce Jar. I used Cricut Design Space to cut an image of a Christmas Tree out of vinyl with my Cricut Explore Air 2. If you don’t own a cutting machine, you could cut the shape with scissors.
Place the vinyl cut out on the jar.
Using acyrlic paint or spray paint, cover the jar. I ended up using spray paint and did two coats. If you’re using acrylic paint it may take a few coats more.
Once the paint is dry, carefully remove the vinyl tree.
I ended up dry brushing some gold accents onto my jar with gold acrylic paint.
Tie some twine around the top of the jar and add some beans into the bottom of the jar – enough so that the candle will show through your cut out.
Place the candle on the beans and you’re ready to put it on display!
My jar was not a wide neck jar, so I dropped the candle in and used a bamboo skewer to move it into the correct placement. I then lit the bamboo skewer and used that to light the candle. If you have a wide mouth jar you would be able to reach right in and avoid all that!
