If you’re looking for a fun craft to do with the kids that you’ll both love having on display, you’ll want to try these DIY Silly Faces Glass Planters! With minimal adult supervision, kids can make these goofy planters and then plant something special inside. Whether it be a succulent or a flower, they’re sure to put a smile on everyone’s face!
I did the yellow one above, which unintentionally turned into a pineapple, while my 7 year old created that adorably sweet pink planter. Aren’t they just the cutest?
Of course you can also use terra cotta pots to create these, and I would suggest that for younger kids, as painting on glass can sometimes be frustrating.
Don’t you think these sweet little planters would make great gifts? I know as a mom I would love for my kiddos to give me one! It adds some greenery and fun to my decor, that’s for sure. So let’s get to making some playful Glass Jar Planters!

Glass Jar or Terra Cotta Pot
Chalky Finish Paint (My fav brand is Americana Decor)
Google Eyes (We chose glow-in-the-dark ones!)
Hot Glue Gun
Paint the outside of the jar with the chalky finish paint. It takes about 3 coats for complete coverage, allowing each coat to dry before moving on to the next.
Once the last coat of paint is completely dry, use a hot glue gun to attach google eyes to the jar.
Draw on a face with a permanent marker.
Add spanish moss to the jar and place the succulent inside.
Now you’ve got a fun and funky planter that is perfect for gifting!
