Do you have a little one that wants to be Cheerleader for Halloween? I have a fun and simple tutorial that shows you how to make your own pom-poms! I made these at no cost with items from around the house. They even sound like real pom-poms!

Paper Towel or toilet paper tube
Paper or washi tape

If using a paper towel tube, cut it in half. Cover it with either paper or washi tape.
Lay the plastic bags flat, one on top of the each other. Staple the bags along the bottom (about 1 inch up from the bottom). Cut off the handles and cut off the sides to get rid of the folded pieces of the bag (see dotted lines below).
Cut 1/2″ – 1″ strips from the top to about 1″ from the bottom.
Roll up the plastic bags along the stapled end. Either hot glue or staple the rolled up portion in place.
Lastly, add a bead of hot glue around the inside top of the tube. Insert the rolled end of the bags into the tube and you’re done!
Follow the steps again to make a second pom-pom.
What a cute idea! I remember when I was a cheerleader for little league football way back in the day, I was suprised to see that our pom poms came all flat and smooth. We had to crinkle them and crunch them to make them nice and poofy. I bet you could do that with those to make them super full. 🙂 Great tutorial!
Wow, very creative!
Popping over from SITS roll call to say hello.
You are so clever! What little girl wouldn’t want a pom pom? So cute!
