I was excited to help my friend Krista plan her daughter, Everleigh’s, 2nd birthday party this year. Last year we teamed up to do a Minnie Mouse Birthday Party and this year we created a Wonderland!
I designed the invitation based on Krista’s idea and I LOVE how they turned out.
Let’s get right to the details! Free printables are at the bottom of this post.
First up, as with all my parties, I created a grand table that was all decked out for the theme. We decided on a fun and bright color scheme, perfect for a 2 year old. We used flat sheets from Walmart for the tablecloths and backdrop, and a curtain for the “apron). We found the clock, key and magnify glass at Michaels and Marshalls. I painted the frame we picked up at Michaels yellow, and then hung everything with twine and ribbon. I made the directional signs and strung them with twine.
The cake was made by a friend.
The adorable goody bags were made by Krista, and I designed the bubble labels. Inside the bags, Krista placed a deck of cards, crayons that were taped to a paper tea cup with washi tape, a ball maze game, a heart slinky, a pencil, a packet of seeds with google eyes attached, a carrot shaped chocolate and glow sticks.
Don’t you adore the Dum-Dum Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum topiaries? These were Krista’s brainchild that I put together. I painted two terra cotta pots, placed a foam square inside, stuck a dowel in the middle and placed a 5″ styrofoam ball onto that. I then stuck 100 Dum-Dum lollipops into each of the balls. I placed a red baseball cap, with a yellow flag I made from felt, on top!
We set up two food tables – one held drinks and the other held food. Krista made up a “Rabbit Hole” of cheese and pepperoni, she also had crackers, chips and dip, veggies, blondies and some rice krispie paint brushes to “paint the roses”. Krista made the centerpieces for this table – white roses, painted red and placed in a tea pot and tea cup. We added “Eat Me” tags that were taped to toothpicks to the veggie platter and blondies. We also added “Drink Me” tags to the kids drinks.
I set tables up in a U shape and covered them with colorful tablecloths. In the middle of each table, we placed the centerpieces that Krista made. She added google eyes to silk flowers, and planted them in tea cups. We placed them on saucers with jelly beans for additional color.
Krista also brought an Alice in Wonderland children’s book to use as a guest book. We handed it around to all attendees so that they could write a little message inside. Such a fun way to share well wishes from those that attended, and it can be used regularly, instead of shoved into a closet somewhere!
Krista found that adorable Alice dress via Amazon. We had lots of dancing (birthday and her dad above!), bubble blowing and pinata smashing. It was a great day!
How did you make the invitation? It is too cute!
Thank you!
I am a graphic designer. I made the invitations in Adobe Illustrator. 🙂
