I came up with these DIY Tulle Topiaries for my daughters upcoming Sophia the First birthday party. I wanted something pretty and feminine and a tad whimsy that I could add to the dessert table and I think that these fit the bill perfectly. We’re pretty excited for the party around our house. I am 100% ready, just need the day to arrive!

Of course I put this party together on a budget, so these babies only cost me about $2.50 each and used a combination of items from the Dollar Store and my craft stash. Below you will learn how to make your own.

Supplies Needed:

Tulle (I did by the yard, but a spool would be even better)
Straw or dowel
Washi Tape
Flower Pot
Styrofoam
Shredded Paper or Easter Basket Fluff
Hot Glue Gun

DIY Tulle Topiaries Directions:

First, we need to make a tulle pom pom. I didn’t actually document how I did this. I just folded the tulle up, trimmed it up, tied it in the middle and poufed it up. What? That didn’t help? OK, well I did a Google search and found a Tulle Pom-Pom Tutorial by the girls at Eighteen25 that looks like it would be easy as pie!

Using washi tape, wrap it around a straw, covering it completely. Secure it to the tulle pom pom with hot glue.

Add a hole in the center of your styrofoam (that has been cut to size of your pot) and then cover it in Easter Basket filler or shredded paper.

Insert the styrofoam into your flower pot and stick in the straw with attached pom pom.

Optional: attach embellishments. That’s it! Now you’ve got a couple of cute items for a princess party.

Are you getting excited to see the whole party pulled together? ME TOO! I know it is going to look great and I can’t wait to see my daughters face when she walks into her own backyard that has been glammed up!
