Hi friends! It’s Heather from Twin Dragonfly Designs here to share a lovely free crochet pattern with you today.
Have you been following the new Outlander series on Starz? A few friends and I meet for a girls night each week to watch. I think that it was during the second episode that the main character, Claire, was seen wearing a lovely woolen cowl. The girls and I looked at each other and declared “we need to make one!” I scoured the internet for a pattern and tried a few variations of my own before coming up with this cowl. We all agreed that it needed to have a twist and be long enough to loop twice around. I think that we have as close to the original as possible. This is a super warm and bulky cowl that would be perfect for the Scottish Highlands *wink*.

Hi I love this! But I’m unsure if it’s singe crochet or double crochet front and back posts?
Thank you!
It is Double Crochet front and back posts 🙂
Do you slip stitch each row? I somehow seem to have two front posts on the same side where the beginning row is.
This lovely pattern for the Outlander Claire Inspired Cowl just came through my news feed. I am not sure I understand fully how the twists are done in row 1. Thank you for sharing this pattern and also thank you in advance for any assistance you may provide with the twists issue.
