Happy Friday fellow seven thirty three readers!

It’s Amy from Atta Girl Says back with another crafty home decor post.

Since Easter is in mid-April this year, I actually feel like I have some breathing room and crafting time to prepare and decorate for the holiday.

Lately, I’ve been busy making some decoupaged Easter eggs that pay tribute to one of my favorite Easter children’s books, The Country Bunny and the Little Gold Shoes. It was a story my parents read to me, and now I love reading it with my son.

Not only is the story sweet, but it’s a gorgeously illustrated book.

I remember marveling at the artwork as a kid and trying to copy it.
For this project, I didn’t want to destroy our copy of The Country Bunny, so I made some color photocopies on my printer.

I tore the copied pages into strips and irregular shapes, trying to keep certain bits of the text and artwork in tact, like the bunnies’ faces.

I coated the backside of each strip with Mod Podge, then adhered them to paper eggs I bought at the craft store for less than 50 cents each.

Don’t worry about getting the paper super smooth. I think part of the beauty of these eggs is that imperfect mosaic look.

Once each egg was covered in storybook pages, I finished with a coat of Mod Podge to seal.

Be careful not to touch the topcoat of Mod Podge until it is completely dry, as your sticky fingers may remove part of the paper or printed image.

These look so pretty displayed in a basket.

Or even as part of an Easter table setting.
Next up, I want to make a set of these using images from the Beatrix Potter books.
If you don’t want to use illustrations from children’s books, you could use scrapbook paper, sheet music, printed book pages, wrapping paper or even Easter napkins to cover plain paper eggs.

I hope you’ll make some of these eggs and incorporate them into your Easter decorating.

I’ve really enjoyed sharing decorating ideas and crafts here at seven thirty three these last few months, and I’m really thankful to Kim for allowing me to hijack her blog once a month.

It’s time for me to say farewell, as I’m passing the baton to a new home decor contributor. I’m excited to follow along to see how Kim and her new contributors will inspire us next.

And, of course, I hope you’ll stop by and visit me sometime at Atta Girl Says.

Oh, and you may want to follow along on Instagram because Kim and I will be hanging out next month — in real life. We finally get to meet in person at Snap! blogging conference in Utah. I can’t wait!

In fact, I’m sharing a cool Snap! calendar countdown craft today on my blog.
