This post brought to you by Kohls.
This past winter, and so far, Spring, has been a rough one in Vermont. It was extremely cold, and the sun was hidden the majority of the time. Even more than most years! We’ve had two warm days so far this Spring. After such a long time of being stuck in doors the majority of the days, my family has been looking forward to getting out of doors and into the fresh air and sunshine. Each Spring we make a point to begin taking family bike rides around the neighborhood, and along bike trails throughout the State.
In years past my youngest would ride a tandem bike that was attached to mine to help her keep up with the rest of the family. This year she is turning 6 and really needs to start working on riding a bike on her own. She is tall for her age and her bike from last year was not going to cut it for another year. As I was browsing Kohls.com, I noticed that they had a bike section, which I had not known. The prices were really good so I decided to get my daughter a new bike. I picked an 18″ Kent Bike, which, according to the description, is for 6+. I also picked up a helmet for my son and daughter (The prices were AMAZING! I spent under $15 for each one!), a bell for my daughters bike and a headlight and taillights for my sons bike. Total I spent $152 and received free shipping. Pretty darn good in my opinion. Plus, I love how Kohls allows you to use up to four promo codes at a time. I stack those babies for even more savings!
The bike arrived in a timely manner and was well packaged. My daughter, son and I put it together as a team. It took about 45 minutes start to finish. The headlight and brake/directional lights that I ordered for my sons bike were super easy to install. There is a little console that goes on his handlebars and allows him to turn the lights on and off. He loves using them and it is perfect for when he is riding with cousins around the campgrounds. He also has a bell that he uses to warn people as he approaches. Trying to teach responsible “driving habits” at a young age!
The kids have been riding around the neighborhood, which makes this Mommy happy. Like I said, the winter was long and my kids were getting WAY too much screen time. I’m happy they are outside and getting some exercise, even if it means wearing coats and mittens to ride! Luckily we have warmer weather coming our way (72 tomorrow!) so we’ll be enjoying lots of family bike rides.
