I’ve had several wooden peg dolls sitting in my craft room for a while now. I’ve been wanting to make something with them for my daughter, but it’s just one of those things that hasn’t happened yet – until now! While chatting with my friend Krista I mentioned I had these dolls and wanted something fun to turn them into, and she suggested Emoji’s. I was like, “OMG! YES! She would love those” and off I went. Read on to learn how I created these adorable pop culture Emoji Peg Dolls!
My kiddos ended up really loving these emojis – especially the little confused looking guy… turn him around to see why he seems a bit off! There was lots of laughter as they played with these cute little guys!
SUPPLIES: (Affiliate link for your convenience)
Wooden Peg Dolls
Thin Sharpie Marker
Craft Paint
Medium Paint Brush
Thin Paint Brush
Paper-mâché House (optional)
DIRECTIONS:
Paint the peg dolls yellow. It may take two to three coats for complete coverage.
Pick the emoji’s that you want to use and have examples in front of you. Use the Sharpie to draw the face onto the peg doll. Fill in the facial features with craft paint.
Let dry completely.
As you paint the peg dolls, enlist your child to paint the Papier-mâché house – my daughter had a blast picking colors and painting it the way she wanted it. Set aside and let dry.
Once everything is done drying, it’s time to play!
