Are you a llama fan? My daughter sure is, so when I received the all-new Cricut EasyPress Mat, and let me tell you, it makes creating iron-on shirts a breeze! This DIY No Prob-Llama Shirt took about 10 minutes to cut and iron-on. FABULOUS!
One of my favorite things to do with my Cricut Maker is create custom t-shirts and totes. It’s easy to make team shirts, gifts for teachers, and now, with the EasyPress and the EasyPress Mat, it got even easier. I no longer need to pull out the iron and ironing board, run up to flights of stairs from my Cricut Maker to my bedroom and then back down again. I keep everything right in my craft room. Plus, the silicone Mat helps distribute the heat properly and protects your work surfaces. It measures 12×12, so is perfectly fitted to the EasyPress.
This llama shirt was fun to design. I created the SVG and then uploaded it to Design Space. After a few tweaks, attaching the text and attaching the face so that they stayed in place, I sized to my daughters shirt and sent it to the machine. When working with iron-on material you need to “mirror” the image before cutting. I used white, pink and black iron on vinyl for this project… though I think some of the new patterned vinyl from Cricut would have been PERFECT for the llama’s blanket!
Once the design was cut, I weeded the vinyl and then positioned everything onto the shirt. I set the EasyPress to 305 degrees and set the time to 20 seconds. Once it was ready, I placed the EasyPress Mat inside the shirt, under the design, then placed the EasyPress on top, pressed the start button and held it firmly in place until it beeped.
Once the llama’s body was in place, I removed the plastic covering, placed the words, the face and the blanket, replaced the body plastic and pressed again. I removed all the plastic and voila! The shirt is done. Easy peasy and super trendy.
