My boyfriends coworker is expecting her first baby this August. He asked me to help him put together a gift basket for her, knowing I’m extra when it comes to those things. Of course I don’t know her very well, but I did find out that her theme was elephants and that she was expecting a little man. I ended up purchasing an adorable black and white outfit, some red elephant moccassins and an elephant themed board book. And then, because I love to do something a little more personal, I took a minute to design some elephant themed baby month cards and a “shhh… baby is sleeping” door hanger. I hope she loves the elephant themed baby gift I put together!
I chose a fun, bright and bold color scheme that I think will pop nicely in photos. I also decided I wanted to create a little box to hold them so that she could easily store them for the full year.
The cards print four per 8.5×11 sheet of paper. I printed them on cardstock so that they are a little sturdier. Once printed, I cut them out and put them in the box. Of course you don’t need to box them up… tying them with ribbon would be an adorable way to gift them as well!
The door hanger is the perfect way to notify visitors to knock quietly and to not ring the doorbell. Most new moms know to cherish the time that their infants finally fall asleep! I don’t believe in making the child’s environment pitch black and totally silent because it will effect their sleep habits in later years, but the first few weeks and months, when mom is sleep-deprived, this little door hanger comes in handy. Especially on days where she just can’t chance baby being woken up!
To pull everything together, I put all of the items into a basket and added a “welcome baby” gift tag in the same color scheme and featuring the same adorable elephants. Take a peek at the completed elephant themed baby gift basket:
I’ve made the baby month cards, sleeping baby door hanger and Welcome Baby gift tag available as free printables below so that you can create a special gift for a new mom too!
All printables are available in pdf format. Personal use only. Do not alter.
Download the files and save them to your computer. Open in Adobe Reader and print onto cardstock. Carefully cut out the cards, the door knob hole on the door hanger and the gift tag. Enjoy!
