I had a pair of my daughters corderoys hanging around the house.  I kept thinking there was something cool that I could do with them, I just wasn’t sure what… I started thinking maybe a purse, so I googled pants purse and found this easy little tut.  I made a few changes to have it better suit our needs and came up with this for my daughter:

I chose to not have a full flap over the front of the purse.  Instead I cut a small section from the pant leg, approx. 3″ x 5″ and sewed it into the inside back.  I then added some velcro to the flap and the inside front so that there was a small closure (I didn’t have a magnet closure on hand, so used velcro).  I loved the idea of the braided handle but wasn’t fond of the hole and knot method, so instead I cut the three pieces and laid them one of top of each other and sewed all of them together on one end.  I then sewed that into the inside side of the purse.  I braided them and then sewed the other end together and sewed that into the other inside side.  Took all of 20 minutes and we have received many compliments on it.  My daughter that is was the coolest purse ever!

Happy sewing!
