The Holiday’s can get pretty busy around my house. We have party after party, and just when you think the coast is clear, there’s another party! And who goes to a party empty handed?
Well, usually me, but NOT anymore!
This year I’ll be posting a bunch of easy, fun, and kid friendly holiday treats over on my site, and to kick off the festive season, I’m going to share a melted snowman cake pop tutorial with you!
I know what you are thinking…. ‘Cake pops? So not easy….’
And my reply?
‘Oh, but THESE cake pops are sooooo easy!’
Here is what you’ll need to get started:
1 cake, baked and cooled
1 can of frosting
Vanilla candy bark, or white candy melts
black and orange jimmies
Getting your Cake Pops Formed:
Ok, ok… I’m horrible. My camera grew legs and ran away just as I was getting these babies started, so I have zero pictures for you guys. I also happen to be horrible at talking you through how to make a base for your decorated cake pop…
If you were me, this is how things happened in my kitchen:
Crumbled cake. Dumped in some frosting. Rolled into unportioned size balls. Stuck in freezer. Dipped stick in melted chocolate. Inserted into ball.
One of these days I’m going to learn that you really should follow a recipe of some sort…
Luckily, Bakerella, the queen of cake pops, already has a fantastic cake pop tutorial HERE.
Follow her tutorial until your pops look something like this:

Once you’ve got them to this point, you’re ready to get going! I didn’t want to run to the store for sprinkles, so I decided to use some previous holiday sprinkles I purchased.
Wouldn’t you know it, Halloween has just the right colors for this project!
You can use black and orange nonpareils, but I felt like the broken jimmies gave it a more realistic feel. So at this point, you’ll need to pour your black and orange sprinkles into separate bowls to get them ready. Also, lay out some wax paper.
Melt your candy coating according to the directions on the package, and lets get dipping!
Don’t get frustrated if you’re having a hard time with this part. It’s not as easy as it looks. Just slowly dip and swirl your cake pop on the melted chocolate. Since these are ‘melting’ snowmen, there is no need to get the excess chocolate off. Simply place the cake pop upside down on your sheet of wax paper. The more of a chocolate puddle, the better.
You will need to work quickly though, to get the eyes, nose and mouth on. Working with one sprinkle at a time, place them in the order you wish. Don’t worry about perfection. I think these little guys need character, and all of those imperfections compliment them nicely.
Let them set up, and voila! You have made some super easy cake pops that are ready for any occasion that comes up!
