Today I wanted to share with you one of my newest addictions: Freezer Paper Stencil T-Shirts!

Ever since the first time I came across a freezer paper stencil project a few months ago I have been wanting to give it a try.  And now, I finally did!  It is SO simple and you can be really creative. I suggest you go grab some blank t-shirts, freezer paper, a craft knife and fabric paint, because you are going to want to try this! I started by making my son a Mr. Cool shirt based off a shirt a saw online.
With a $3.50 shirt and supplies I had around the house I made this:

How to create and use a freezer paper stencil:

Supplies:

Freezer Paper
Craft Knife
Fabric Paint
Iron

I freehanded the images directly onto the matte side of the freezer paper and then cut it out with an Xacto knife (can also use a craft cutting machine should you own one).  With the shiny side of the freezer paper against the shirt (or canvas that you are using), set the iron to the cotton setting and iron it on. Place a piece of paper inside the shirt so that the paint doesn’t bleed onto the back. Use fabric paint to fill in the stencil and let dry. Carefully peel up the stencil and you have an awesome custom piece!

I used puff paints I had around the house and a sponge to sponge the paint on.

It can be a bit tricky to think in reverse when you are drawing the design so take your time and think it out!  I didn’t follow a tutorial, just sort of winged it, but if you need more direction then this, check out this great video tutorial!

This second shirt is also inspired by another shirt:
My son makes sure everyone knows that HE is the BIG CHEESE, not his Daddy! I added embrodiery floss X’s along the bottom of the shirt to give it a little extra flair.
