Olivia is a huge Sofia the First fan, which is why we decided to throw her a Sofia the First inspired 4th Birthday Party. Willow Bean Studio, the same place that Olivia’s Pinkalicious inspired dress, has been working on a Sofia the First inspired dress for the big day and I’m so excited to share the final result with you!

Custom Princess Dress

Little Girl's Tea PartyJenni, the amazing talent behind Willow Bean Studio, sent me a conceptual drawing and a photo of the swatches. I shared them with Olivia and she had a bit of input on the design/style of her Sofia the First inspired dress, which I thought was terrific. Although Disney’s Sofia is a true princess ballgown, we decided to go with a shorter knee-length dress that was poufy and could TWIRL. Originally Jenni was going to include embroidery of Sofia on the bodice, but Olivia nixed that because “Sofia’s dress doesn’t have that!”. Jenni’s concept came to life beautifully. I love that this dress can be worn any day of the week, or it can be dressed up and worn for special occasions. It really is the perfect dress!

The detail on the dress is amazing. The lace and rosettes that outline the bodice and top piece and the purple ribbon around the waist adds such a fun feel. I like that the front center panel has the flower shape and that Jenni was able to get the scallop bottom just like Sofia the First’s dress. The crowning jewel is the big bow on the back!

After the dress came in, I decided to surprise Olivia with a tea party on our front lawn. Spring has finally arrived and it was 68 degrees with sunny skies so I laid out a blanket, grabbed a few stuffed animals, a tea set, and some cookies. After I set everything up I called Olivia and her big sister Cassidy and told them to get pretty dresses on because Olivia’s friends were here for a tea party. She couldn’t figure out what “friends” had come for a tea party but she said, “OK, Mama! Let’s get me dressed in my Sofia the First dress!”

When we went outside she started to giggle when she saw who the friends were. She immediately set to work pouring everyone tea and handing out the cookies. We all drank our tea the proper way, with our pinkies up, and the girls practiced dancing the waltz and curtsying. Afterward, she told me that the “surprise tea party was the best ever” and thanked me profusely ending with a huge hug.
