I am in the midst of planning my daughter, Olivia’s, 8th Birthday. She chose a Donut theme, which is super easy to work with.  Much more so than when she chose Fire Hydrants! I’ve been wanting to make my own soap, so I thought this would be a great time to tackle that, with some help from Olivia. Because we have some kiddos with sensitive skin coming to the party we didn’t add in any fragrance, but there are tons of ways to do so, including using essential oils. Check out the video below of how we made these adorable DIY Donut Soap Party Favors!

Cut off a chunk of the soap base and place in a microwave safe bowl for 30 second increments until completely melted, stirring in between.

Add in drops of coloring and stir until achieve the desired color. This would be the time to add in the fragrance as well if you choose to do so.

Pour a thin layer of the colored soap into the mold and set aside to harden for several minutes.

While the soap in the mold is hardening, cut off more of the soap base and melt.

Once melted, pour the non-dyed soap over the hardened soap in the mold.

Set aside to harden for 30-60 minutes.

I chose to use a knife to carefully remove any extra drips from the mold.

Once soap has hardened, remove it from the mold, carefully smooth the edges a bit by rubbing with your finger tips.

That’s all there is to make this DIY Donut Soap! Want to package it up all nice and sweet?

We used treat boxes and shredded paper to place the soaps in. I will be adding a ribbon and tag prior to the birthday party.
