I’m sure you’ve seen them – Hot Chocolate Bombs. They are trending all over social media. My daughter, Olivia, recently texted me asking if we could make some… and I promptly texted her back the shopping list I already had written which included the ingredients to make them! These winter treats are actually very easy to make, look neat, and taste delicious! We decided since we were making them anyway, we packaged up a few for friends and family. Below I’m sharing how we made our Snowball Hot Chocolate Bombs, as well as printable Hot Chocolate Bomb Gift Tags for holiday gift-giving!

Snowball Cocoa Bomb Recipe

Cocoa bomb ingredients

Ingredients:

  • White Candy Melts
  • Hot Chocolate Mix
  • Cinnamon
  • Sprinkles
  • 2″ Sphere Silicone Baking Mold

Directions:

Add candy wafers to a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 1 minute. Remove and stir. Put back in the microwave for 15 to 30-second bursts, removing and stirring until completely melted.

Spoon about a teaspoon of chocolate into the mold and using the back of a spoon, completely cover the sphere – making sure to go all the way to the top. Once all of the molds are covered, place in the freezer for 10 minutes to set.

Once the spheres are hardened, remove them from the freezer.

Flip the mold over and carefully push out the chocolate spheres.

Place a frying pan on the stove and heat it up.

How to make Snowball Hot Chocolate Bombs

Fill one half of the sphere with the hot cocoa mix. Add in a 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon (optional).

Pick up another half and melt the edge on the frying pan for one to two seconds, heating up the rim.

Quickly push the two sides of the spheres together to seal. Place aside to set.

If your two spheres have any gaps, melt a couple of wafers and use those to seal them up. Tip: let the chocolate cool on the spoon for 10-15 seconds before adding to the sphere or it could melt through.

If you’d like to add sprinkles like we did, simply use a dab of melted chocolate and place the sprinkle onto the sphere and allow it to set.

To store the hot chocolate bombs, place them in an airtight container and keep them someplace cool, or in the fridge.

Check out how well they work:
