Today we’re breaking from our normal content to discuss perfumes because I’m asked, quite literally on a daily basis, what fragrance I am wearing. I love the way a good fragrance can make you feel – confident, sophisticated, or even just clean. Let’s be honest, there’s nothing quite like getting a compliment on your perfume! My husband is also a lover of good scents and is often gifting me new fragrances, which I appreciate. If you’re in the market for a new perfume, here are my top 5 go-to perfumes. Post contains affiliate links for your convenience.
My Top 5 Scents
This one is a bit of a hidden gem. It’s a rich, sensual blend of black tulip, pink peppercorn, and Japanese violet. It’s a little bit edgy, a little bit floral, and totally captivating. Fun fact: Nest started as a home fragrance product, that branched out into perfumes. I found this perfume while shopping at Sephora in Canada and fell in love.
4. Clinique My Happy Lily of the Beach
This is my ultimate summer scent – even though I totally wear it year round. It’s light, fresh, and zesty, with notes of lily, mandarin, and driftwood. It’s like a day at the beach in a bottle! I don’t know what it is about this perfume, but it literally makes me happy!
This one is a classic for a reason. It’s a luxurious, sophisticated scent with notes of jasmine, saffron, and cedarwood. It’s the kind of perfume that lingers in the air and leaves a lasting impression – in a good way.
This is my party perfume, it’s also the #1 scent I get asked about. It’s sweet, playful, and totally glamorous, with notes of peach, red spider lily, and vanilla.
This is my absolute favorite perfume. It’s a bold, empowering scent with notes of green apple, bergamot, and sandalwood. I know that sounds different, but you’ve gotta smell it and see just how right it is!
Luxury Perfume Dupes for Less
Of my top 5, the MFK Baccarat Rouge 540 and Creed Aventus for Her are pricey. Which is where my husband comes in. He found a dupe of my top 3 favs, and I can’t gatekeep, so I’m going to share the more affordable versions so you can try for yourself!
The dupe is a site called Dossier and I’m telling you, they have some amazing scents. Here are the dupes for my top 3:
3. Ambery Saffron – inspired by MFK Baccarat Rouge 540
2. Powdery Peach – inspired by Jimmy Choo I Want Choo
1. Fruity Oakmoss – inspired by Creed Aventus for Her
Understanding Perfume Concentrations
Ever wondered what the difference is between eau de toilette and eau de parfum? Here’s a quick guide:
Parfum is the most concentrated form of fragrance, with the highest percentage of perfume oils. It’s the most expensive option, but it also lasts the longest.
Eau de Parfum is a strong concentration of fragrance that typically lasts for 4-5 hours. It’s a good balance between price and longevity.
Eau de Toilette is a lighter concentration of fragrance that typically lasts for 2-3 hours. It’s a good option for everyday wear.
And lastly, Eau de Cologne is the lightest concentration of fragrance, with the lowest percentage of perfume oils. It’s a refreshing option that’s perfect for hot weather.
I hope you enjoyed this peek into my perfume collection. Let me know in the comments what your favorite scents are!
