Hi guys, It’s Angela from Handmade in the Heartland! Can you believe its July 1st? Are you getting ready for Friday? This patriotic berry trifle is delicious and the perfect dessert for your neighborhood bbq or family gathering. Its easy and fast to make which is perfect when you have to get out the door to the pool! I have been whipping up a lot of 4th of July ideas over at my blog Handmade in the Heartland so be sure to stop by!
This is kind of a cheater recipe. I bought the Angel food cake already made from the store and made the delicious cream that goes in it from scratch. yum. You can totally go the extra mile and make your own angel food cake, but if you are like me, you need the extra time this week!
- 1 angel food cake
- 1 container strawberries
- 1 container blueberries
- 1 8oz container marscarpone cheese
- 1 1/5 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup sugar
- In a stand mixer with the whisk attachment mix the heavy cream, marscarpone & sugar until it is light and fluff, it will probably take about 5-10 minutes on medium to high speed.
- Cut up pieces of angel food cake and add to trifle dish
- Add a layer of cream
- Add a layer of strawberries and blueberries
I made individual servings which is great for picnics and outdoor gatherings, think of doing them in clear small solo cups, how perfect! You can also do it in a large trifle dish and have an even faster prep time. Enjoy!
