Strawberry-and-Blueberry-Trifle

This is kind of a cheater recipe.  I bought the Angel food cake already made from the store and made the delicious cream that goes in it from scratch. yum. You can totally go the extra mile and make your own angel food cake, but if you are like me, you need the extra time this week!

Patriotic Berry Trifle

Author: Angela from Handmade in the Heartland

Ingredients

  • 1 angel food cake
  • 1 container strawberries
  • 1 container blueberries
  • 1 8 oz container marscarpone cheese
  • 1 1/5 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar

Instructions

  • In a stand mixer with the whisk attachment mix the heavy cream, marscarpone & sugar until it is light and fluff, it will probably take about 5-10 minutes on medium to high speed.

To make the trifle layer

  • Cut up pieces of angel food cake and add to trifle dish
  • Add a layer of cream
  • Add a layer of strawberries and blueberries
  • Repeat.

I made individual servings which is great for picnics and outdoor gatherings, think of doing them in clear small solo cups, how perfect! You can also do it in a large trifle dish and have an even faster prep time. Enjoy!
