Hello again! It’s Kelly from Here Comes the Sun back with another easy home decor project for you. This month, I decided to use my Silhouette machine and make some adorable Fall Leaves Specimen Art.
I love decorating for Fall. I love all the warm colors and textures. Most of the projects that I make are easy and quick because I just don’t have the time for elaborate creations. So this is super easy. I’ve wanted to make specimen art for a long time and my Silhouette makes it so easy.
For this project you will need:
8.5×11 piece of orange cardstock
8.5×11 piece of red cardstock
8×10 picture mat
First, I found a free leaf svg file online and converted it into a dxf file. If you have the Designer Studio Edition for your Silhouette, I think you can cut svg files but I don’t have that software so my file needed to be dxf. After opening my file in the Silhouette software, I isolated the leaf that I wanted and then duplicated it to fill the page.
I cut my file on red cardstock and then placed the orange cardstock under it.
Tape both pieces of cardstock together and place in a frame. My frame is 11×14 matted to 8×10. My Fall Leaves Specimen Art hangs in our entryway.
This project would also make an adorable card.. just size it to 4×6 or 5×7. I can’t wait to make more specimen art for Christmas!
