This past weekend we celebrated my sons 8th birthday with an Archery Birthday Party at the local archery range. It was an hour of shooting and a half hour for cake and ice cream and presents. The kids had a great time and I must admit, though it was hard for me to relinquish party duty, I enjoyed having time to relax and enjoy the party! I didn’t really have an option, since we moved everything out of the old house on Saturday. We literally only had mattresses, clothes and food in the house! Tomorrow we move all of that out and head to a friends house where we will be house sitting for the next three weeks. Here’s to hoping the new house stays on schedule and we can have a nice smooth move. But back to the party!
Since Ron, the owner of Pelkey’s Archery, located in Northern Vermont, handles the hour long shooting, I really didn’t have much to do for this party. But I couldn’t just throw a party without putting a little bit of creativeness into it, so I created the invites, some fun favors and enlisted a friend to make some delicious cupcakes. All available free printables will be at the end of this post.
I created the invites and printed them on cardstock.
For party favors I created some tags with the same target from the invites and I clipped them onto some paper bags. Inside the bags I placed a glowstick bracelet, a whistle (at my son’s request since his instructors use them during archery), personalized bubbles, an arrow pencil favor, and a fun plane with launcher, which was a huge hit!
I also added a homemade sugar cookie topped with frosting and a DIY Bow and Arrow Chocolate. I purchased the Cybrtrayd Hunter chocolate mold from Amazon.
The cupcakes were made by Cakes by Keeli. The kids thought they were the coolest and said they tasted AMAZING! Keeli also did the cake for my daughters Butterfly Party – she is super talented! If you’re in Northern Vermont, I definitely recommend her!
The kids played some really fun games during their shooting time, including archery tic tac toe and Survivor. Ron and his staff are amazing with the kids and make sure they have a great time, while still observing the safety rules. My son had a great day and mama wasn’t totally stressed out with having to plan a party and move a family of 5 out of their house of 9 years into temporary housing for a month!
The birthday party idea is so nice! My son is 7 and he has a birthday on the 25th August so I’m thinking for some original idea for his birthday party. We moved to another city before two months and he is not feeling very well… so I want to throw some kind of special party for him! Thanks for the idea! Thumbs up!
Liked the archery themed invitation. Very unique and creative.
Where can I find the archery invite download?
All available free downloads, including the invites, are at the bottom of the post.
Is there a way to get the invite to look like yours instead of a fill in? Or anyway I can pay your to do a customized one for me as a digital .pdf file that I can get printed?
I’m sorry Kimberly, I do not offer those services at this time. I just don’t have the extra time. 🙁
I’m so glad I found this!!! My little girl will be 5 in 2 weeks. She wants a Brave party, but I wanted to make it a little more classy. We just bought her bow, but she will be using the ones we make for all of the kids at her party.
I love this party idea! I suppose it would work for MY next birthday? ???? Or maybe for my kids’. I always enjoy reading about favor and treat ideas. Very excited to try this !! I can’t wait until my son is old enough to handle a bow.
Thank you for being such an inspiration
Best wishes from Down Under
