Hi again everyone, it’s Rosemary from An Italian in my Kitchen.  Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that you are now getting ready for, in my opinion, the best season of them all, Christmas.  There are so many great ideas and recipes to be shared that I thought I would share one of my all-time-favorites with you. an amazingly yummy coffee cake, French Coffee Cake.

This sweet dessert is one that I never get tired of making or eating, so soft and moist.  Absolutely perfect with a cup of coffee or tea.

Delicious Homemade French Coffee Cake

Coffee Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
3 cups sifted cake flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup greek yogurt
1 teaspoon vanilla

Topping
1/4 cup cocoa
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup chopped hazelnuts

DIRECTIONS

Pre-heat over to 350 degrees, grease and flour a 9-inch tube pan.

Using a small mixing bowl mix together cocoa, sugar, and hazelnuts (the topping) and set aside.

In a large bowl cream butter, beat in 1 cup of sugar and eggs, one at a time, beat well after each addition.

In a medium bowl sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt together.

Mix greek yogurt and vanilla together in a small bowl.

Starting with the flour mixture, add to egg mixture and then yogurt mixture (ending with yogurt mixture).

Pour half the batter into the tube pan, sprinkle half of the topping  over the batter, add the remaining batter and cover with the remaining topping.

Run a knife through the batter to form a marble effect.

Bake for approximately 1 hour – check after 45 minutes.
